Gelato, Olive Trees and a Villa. A True Tuscany Wedding.

W & G knew they wanted an Italy wedding the moment they first traveled this beautiful country together. It was a long two and a half years of planning, but for G, it gave her life. Now wanting to be a wedding planner even more after designing and creating for their wedding. She knew a Tuscany wedding had to the essential Tuscany flare – a gelato cart, a Prosecco truck, stone fired pizza truck, tables of charcuterie, and multiple days to really enjoy relaxing and experiencing with friends and family.

The Pre-Wedding Portrait Day

We spent our first day together, accompanied by her dad, traipsing through all the glorious views of Tuscany. This was important to their story. When they were first here, they spent hours driving around, wandering the countryside. G’s dad and Ross drove the old Alfa Romeo with the windows down and the breeze blowing. Thankfully, W, G and I had our car complete with AC… since it had been in the 40s! (40s C, 90s F) The best compliment was later that night when we received a thank you text telling us that we had truly recreated what made them fall in love with Tuscany and that first time they had been there.

The Welcome Dinner in Cortona

Cortona, a little slice of heaven. Overlooking the Tuscan landscape for miles, Cortona was a perfect spot to welcome their friends and family to their Tuscany wedding celebration. They reserved a restaurant set atop of the centre. Their guests were privy to glorious views and sunset. For hours they enjoyed a wide variety of apéritifs, before finally taking seats, hearing toasts and enjoying a four course meal. (that I can proclaim was absolutely delicious!!) It was a time of laughter, reunion, and celebration.

A Tuscany Wedding

A Tuscany Wedding, my favorite. We have had brides and grooms ask our advice on which part of Italy they should host their wedding. Tuscany will forever have our hearts. Just as it does for W & G, and I am sure all of their guests now as well. They brought their week celebration to a close with an intimate, 34 guest wedding at Villa Montanare, located just outside of Cortona. A fact I love about G is that she requested black and white film for getting ready and post-sundown. I was thrilled!!! We share a love for that beautiful grain and the emotions it evokes. The ladies and the men took time to enjoy their morning together, until the afternoon came for their first look and wedding portraits. Villa Montanare has the most glorious olive trees, cypress trees and overall backdrop for the perfect Tuscan wedding portraits.

A Tuscany Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony was in the olive tree grove with the rolling hills as its backdrop. One of my favorite things to do is to capture that split second moment between father and daughter before they leave to walk down the aisle. Another moment that ties for equally as special – the look of the groom as he sees his bride. Even with a first look, nothing takes away from that once in a lifetime moment. There were tears of excitement, love and pure joy. The guests were dressed in the perfect colors that communicated that joy and excitement. Their vows exchanged were written themselves. It was a beautiful insight to this beautiful couple. G was obviously gifted with the ability of writing, she even made my eyes gather tears!

Cocktail and Reception

In true Tuscan form, it’s all about the people and the food. Apéritifs and reception were incredibly fun. They had a traditional Italian wedding cake, Prosecco truck and late night pizza truck. It was clear this group of people came for one reason – to celebrate and love on W&G. We were so honored to be a part of such a special week.
