After spending the day with Oliver Fly – to which he so perfectly documented our family! – he had me convinced to return home, invest in a film camera again and attend a workshop. So, I returned home, ordered my Contax, found a workshop that was in France – because hello beautiful perfect light, and I was committed to film again. When that first roll wound through the camera, I started feeling so much excitement. It had been SO long since I had heard that magnificent sound!! I shot my first roll and looked at my husband, tear in my eyes, and said ‘I feel like a photographer again.’ I was done with digital, from then on I only wanted to be offer my clients film photography.
A few weeks later, I was on my way to France, ready to shoot so many glorious rolls of film. Driving up to the chateau was like traveling in to the set of a movie. I love France. The light, the color palate, the culture, the food. It fills my heart with joy and stirs my creativity like nothing else. I was in love. History, architecture and all things european have my heart.
Chateau de Courtomer has such a rich history and has preserved the entire space to perfection. Janna Brown is an absolute genius when it comes to styling and flatlays. My heart and my camera were so happy to capture her creations. I loved that the flatlays so perfectly reflected the mood of the shoots that were conceptualized by Oleander Curated. It was amazing. Cynthia and David of Oleander created such amazing designs and concepts for all of the shoots we did. I fell in love with this wedding shoot, the gown that had so much texture and character to it, the white tux jacket that screamed class and luxury. It was so much fun for me to pose them and create exquisite moments to capture, my photographer’s mind and heart were so ecstatic and so fulfilled.
I am now Fine Art Film Photographer, shooting only film photography for my couples.
