Divine means it is a God given right. It is all humans’ God given right, no matter the color or shade of skin, to be at any level of society. I give to you, Divine Aristocracy, luxury wedding inspiration.
I had the idea to do something against the norm palette wise and drew my inspiration from Versailles. Most people maybe think of Marie Antoinette, pastels, feminine, etc. I wanted to give the feel of Louis IVX. The man and mind that created Versailles. I selected gold as the primary color with scarlet as the secondary.
As I was thinking about Versailles, gold, red, royalty, there was a certain look of person that came to mind. I did not like that. Yes. It is a fact that the royalty of Versailles were white. For me, I was not creating a shoot based on what people looked like during that time, or what comes to mind in present day when thinking of royalty and aristocracy. For me, I had to show that any one, any race, ethnicity, any one, is and can be royalty. My incredible friend Darius, owner of TouT Models always has the perfect people.
For the luxury wedding looks, I chose a golden neckerchief with the black tux from The Groomsman Suit. This look perfectly with velvet black shoes with red insoles and golden bottoms of the shoes for him. She wore a gorgeous Anne Barge gown – appropriately named Versailles. The texture, design and delicate details on the gown were the definition of luxury. She donned a cathedral length shimmering golden veil along with custom made sunburst gold earrings created by Eden Luxe Bridal with red Manolo Blahniks. Wild Ivory Beauty played off of Krystina’s natural beauty and hair. Pairing soft, luxury make up with a low chignon.
We started the day at the William Aiken House in downtown Charleston for our ceremony location. Out of the Garden arranged red floral petals in patterns down the aisle of french blue chairs from Ooh! Events. Golden urns were filled with ivory roses at the alter, which was the WAH’s notable white pergola in front of their wall of ivy. Glass globes filled with rose heads were cascading down around the couple. And a stringed duet, from Bespoke Strings, serenaded us all. All luxury wedding inspiration in completed by live musicians.
Like any luxury wedding, there was a separate wedding reception gown and tuxedo. Our couple changed attire to an incredible scarlet red Anne Barge gown and added crowned herself in a custom made golden sunburst. She completed her reception look with Dolce and Gabbana black leather pumps. He wore a beautiful ivory and gold tuxedo with a red pheasant feather Brackish bowtie finished off with red velvet shoes.
To follow in our luxury wedding inspiration, cocktail hours and wedding reception took place at Lowndes Grove. With its gorgeous views and beautiful structure, it was the perfect spot. I picked Lowndes Grove for its outside glass tent. Louis always enjoyed entertaining outdoors in the gardens. PPHG had their cocktail craftswoman create spiced pear cipriani and ginger pear bourbon cocktails.
The reception tables were in a rectangle formation, with all seating on the outside of the table. This way everyone was able to look in towards each other. Golden vines of leaves and baby’s breath ran down the middle of the tables with white garden roses tucked in throughout. Versailles was the name of the ivory and gold detailed tableware that were completed with red velvet napkins and custom hand written menu cards by Pretty Written Things. The ivory four tier cake with intricate gold detailing created by Sweet Rhi was placed on its gold pedestal.
