“It’s like raaaiiiiinn on your wedding day”

When a bride and groom change their wedding date for us, we are always so humbled. And that is how it all started with Michael and Danielle. And it continued going uphill from there!

Further love for this couple continued in a fire station on a cold day in downtown Chicago where we met for engagement pictures. Not only did Danielle and Michael rock their photos with the windy city skyline, but we were also so touched when they ended the session with a gifts for us and for Harvey, who was thrilled with the fireman gear we brought back.

Danielle and Michael traded the skyscrapers for the prairie on their wedding day, and while it rained all day it didn’t dampen their spirits (see what I did there) or stop these two from killing it in their portrait session!!! The spent HOURS in the rain doing their first look, portraits, bridal party, and even their ceremony! And speaking of bridal party, we absolutely adored these men and women who were so incredibly supportive and selfless! They toughed it out in the rain because of their love for Danielle and Michael, and even though they were freezing and wet, they powered through.

One of Danielle’s bridesmaid’s father-in-law had a coonskin wrap made that Danielle was able to wear, and oh. my. word. it was sooooo gorgeous on her and for pictures!!! It added such elegance. She was the most beautiful Italian goddess in the fur wrap and amazing side braid. Seriously, prepared to be in awe!

Michale’s family land is where the ceremony and reception took place. It was off roading a little bit to drive all the way back to the ceremony and reception spot. They had buses that were also bringing people in so they would not have to drive. The rain had left the ceremony chairs thoroughly soaked, so guests stood and watched while holding their umbrellas, but it only added to the occasion. For one brief minute as the ceremony was about to start, the clouds opened up just slightly and we could see some sun peering through. It was like the skies were delighting in this marriage!

The reception was decorated in beautiful elegant fall decor, space heaters kept the tent warm and the Blue Water Kings kept everyone moving and on their feet for a great party. Their generosity continued, in lieu of wedding favors, they made donations on behalf of their guests to Thumbbuddy Special, and organization helping children with disabilities.

On our way home from this magical day, I pulled out a card and gift Danielle had given me when I first arrived at the hotel room. It was a beautiful card thanking us, and the most beautiful earrings. They were the same earrings she had given her bridesmaids, and again, I was humbled. The earrings came from Coletta Collections a site that has beautifully handcrafted merchandise created by people with disabilities.

Michael + Danielle’s wedding can also be seen in Jan/Feb issue of Conde Nast BRIDES!!

Danielle & Michael,

We can’t say enough about you two. Harvey still wears the fire hat, and every time he does, we are reminded of your thoughtfulness and kindness. Thank you for letting us be a part of your story. It has been so great to get to know you, and we look forward to connecting again soon!
